My Zoo Story

Photo
On Thursday 7th Panmure Bridge School went to Auckland Zoo. This is my recount that I made it was about the zoo.

''Wow” it was a really good day today. It was a very hot sunny day. When we went in we took a photo under the fake elephant. I love animals because I like to get facts from them. All the classes went to the zoo trip except for room 6 and room 5. We had some parent  helpers come and support us. There was Diana ( Shailah's sister), Emmy ( Alex’s Mum), Amelia ( My Aunty ) and Mrs Linda. When we all got there we had to sit down with the other classes. We then had Laura and the other zoo helpers to talk to us. We started going into the zoo. When we went in Mrs Linda took a photo of us under the elephant. After that we went to go see the first animal. The first animal we saw were the giraffes, zebras, and the ostriches. Next we walked along the path and we went up to see the rhinos. We first saw the chickens. The chickens were just walking around. When we finished looking at the chickens, we went and saw the rhino. It was standing still like the flamingoes. When we were finished looking at the rhinos we walked across the path and saw the flamingoes. They were standing on one leg and drinking the water. Next we went and saw Burma the elephant. Burma was picking up a little branch. After that we went around the corner and sat underneath the shade shelter and had morning tea there. After we had morning tea Miss Paton told us to take out our booklet and write the facts in. After we had lunch, we went and saw the servals. The servals were lying down underneath the sun. The next animal that we saw were the baboons. The baboons were swinging  from branch to branch. My favourite part of the baboons, was the baboon family. They had a baby with them. The baby was underneath the mum. The family were swinging onto the big rock. The baby was trying to get down from the rock, but the mum was holding on to the baby's tail so the baby doesn't fall down to the ground.  Next we went and saw the lizards. They were crawling like spiders. The next animals we saw were the seals. There was one seal swimming around in circles. There was another seal that came and joined the first seal. Then both seals were going around in circles.  When we finished looking at the seals we went to the top and saw two seals getting sunshine on them. The next animal that we saw were the blue penguins. They were hiding from us. The blue penguins were hiding under the boat. Mrs Linda took a photograph of the blue penguins. We saw the red panda. When I first looked at the red panda it was so fast and was climbing up the tree really fast. After that Mrs Linda went to go and take a little group of people to the toilet. When they went to the toilet Mr/s Linda and Emmy (Alex’s) Mum went to go take a photo of the pigs. When they came back, we went and saw the meerkats. They like to stare, climb and dig. When the group came back Miss Paton said “Is there a tunnel somewhere?”. When we were trying to find the tunnel, Mrs Eeles came past us. She said “Are you looking for the tunnel?”. We said “Yes”. So we went through the tunnel. We could see the meerkats. When we finished going through the tunnel we saw burma the elephant walking past us with the zookeepers.  When I saw Burma the elephant I was so shocked that I saw it walking through the zoo. Then we went and saw the meerkats they looked like a real family. After that some of the students went through the meerkats tunnel. When I went through I could almost see the meerkats right next to me. Then Emmy ( Alex’s Mum) went to take the people who needed to go toilet. When she went, she took a photo of the pigs. When she came back we went and had a little snack at Band Rotunda tower. We only had 10 minutes to eat our lunch. After we ate our lunch Miss Paton did the roll. Then we went to central lawn to see the other classes that were there.  When all the classes came we had the zookeepers take class groups round. We had Laura come to our group. The first animal we saw on the tour were the orangutans. We went to the orangutan display. Then Laura told us sit down on the floor. Next Laura had asked De Niro and Mele to come up and stand up next to her. She called asked them to untie a knot, using a hand and some fingers.  Laura told us about what the orangutans eat. After that we went and took a look at the orangutans before we went to look at the next animal. While we were walking across the wooden path we went and saw the Alligator. When we saw it I could only see the tail moving slowly. Laura told us that Alligators have a round shaped mouth and Crocodiles have a triangular shaped mouth. Then we went and saw the spider monkeys. My favourite part was when the spider monkeys were fighting on the rope. One was drinking water. Laura said that the fish will come out of the water and get some food but the spider monkeys will put their tail on the branch and reach for them and slap them in the face. Then we saw the turtles they had food next to them. There were two of them there and I saw one sleeping and the other one was just moving. The last animal we saw was the Tiger. The tiger was a girl. Her name was Molique. She had a son and Molique was the boss of her son. Then we went into a house where you can see the animals. Laura told us that the zookeepers will call Molique to go out and they will give a challenge for Molique to do. The zookeepers would hide her food up high and in unusual places. Molique was the last animal that we saw. Then every one had to empty out the fruit in their bags because of the fruit fly issue in Pt Chevalier. After that we went back to school on the bus. I had a wonderful time at the zoo. I enjoyed seeing all the animals in action.
